Seabird College’s Ecological Restoration certificate is focused on developing practical field work abilities with the majority
of instruction taking place hands-on in natural environments. Students build expertise in geographic information systems,
fish habitat restoration, core ecological recovery concepts, environmental monitoring, and data management while
earning industry-recognized credentials. The well-rounded curriculum covers critical competencies from site analysis and
conservation biology foundations through to advanced sampling methodologies, assessment reporting, project
communications, and more to prepare graduates for entry-level roles supporting environmental sustainability initiatives.

Details

The practice of restoring ecosystems that have been damaged by industrial activities, like urban sprawl, climate change, and other factors. The goal of ecological restoration is to take damaged ecosystems and restore their functions to the highest degree possible.
  • Start date: October 16th, 2023
  • End date: March 8th, 2024
  • The program will be at Seabird College with some on-line coursework, 80% will be face to face and 20% will be on-line.
  • Transportation will be offered where needed and possible.

Program Description:

The certification in Ecological restoration is a a practical training program, based mostly in field work, learning and practicing employable skills.

Prerequisites:
  • Completion of Grade 10
  • Students are required to have a moderate level of fitness and a willingness to work outside in the rain or shine.
  • Rain-gear, and lunches will be provided.
